This is the only tea of ours that is from wild trees. These tea leaves were picked from wild tea trees high on the remote mountain Gaoligongshan, near the Myanmar border. Typically, hong cha is 100% oxidized and oven dried. However, this technique cannot produce a living tea with strong Qi - it is too damaging to the leaves. This hong cha is gently oxidized 80-85%, and sun dried. The result is a tea bursting with flavor that will only improve with age.
Try it brewed light first. For those who like intense flavors, the tea also rewards stronger steeps. Earthy, dark chocolate, spice. Mild tartness together with a unique gushu funk. Mouth cooling and thick mouthfeel.
